Ashes to Ashes
A Poem by R.J Calzonetti (SinisterPotatoe)
"Shorter poem. Fourth in a series of poems involving summer turning to fall, fall turning to winter, and fire turning to ash."
The earth smothers my flames
The embers of my respite
The heat of my passion
Ashes to ashes
Warmed by the snow, home in this cold
The sky darkening to charcoal
The gems in the sky
The fingers of flame I called fire
Ashes to ashes
Smoky twilight life
The stars shimmer dimly light
These dimensions of perception
The Night is an empress
Ashes to ashes
Vast as a canyon, the sky is a canvas
Grass pastures capitalize the sunshine
Fresh dirt of my lungs
Breath in slumbers' annunciations
Ashes to ashes
Dust to dawn
Move on through the songbirds chirp
The bells of churches
Bellowing nurtured first thing in the morning
Ashes to ashes
Songs of Muhammad, Islam
The faith to believe you're not shattered
When the world is clear as glass
Stained by angels with chainmail halos
Ashes to ashes
Freedom to dawn, focus on calm
Hear the swan of the yonder
The ashes still wander
In clear waters
Ashes to ashes
Warriors are now pacifists
Catch the kiss of the gentle breeze
What tangled webs we humans weave
What makes heart-strung strings to weep
Ashes to ashes
We will still be
In the soul of silver silence I believe
In a quiet faith of endless sea
Carry me across to the other side
Ashes to ashes
Let the river guide our sight of dragonflies
Let the riptide slip n slide
Inside the blue mildew of milky silk
When winter comes, the flowers wilt
Ashes to ashes
Seeds in silt, weeds of freedom
My heart forever bleeding
Fallen for the seasons
There is no demon in my heartbeat
Ashes to ashes
The fire needs starting
